Client Overview and Business Challenge
A major specialty software company’s customers were demanding the ability to research and purchase products over the internet. Their early response was to implement a Web order capture system with a manual order entry back end. Customer acceptance of Web order entry was extremely high and immediately drove Web order volume far beyond the capacity of the back end manual order entry system.

Solution
The RJT team completed a detailed situation analysis of the client’s Oracle system and determined that the client could reduce the number of employees touching customer orders from five people to one person in shipping. RJT collaborated with the client to create an integrated project plan that made sure the new order fulfillment process could be implemented quickly and with the minimum disruption to business operations. In less than four months, RJT implemented a Web order fulfillment system that dramatically increased the speed of order fulfillment and the quality of customer service while reducing the cost of order processing.

The new order fulfillment process takes customer orders from order entry to payment receipt and cash application with only one person in shipping touching the order. Custom acceptance swelled to even greater levels while order fulfillment cost declined and customer satisfaction levels increased.
