Client Overview
The client is a $1.1 billion company that is a leading provider of easy-to-use, on-demand applications for remote desktop access, web conferencing, and collaboration. The client has a focus on delivering a superior customer experience along with an ongoing process of making it easy to buy, use, and benefit from its on demand software.

Client reported 50% year-over-year growth and nearly $150 million in revenue in 2006, the client is taking two hyper-growth markets — SaaS and real-time collaboration. The client is currently running its business on SAP R/3 and SRM applications.

Business Challenge
The client has expanded rapidly and changed its sales deals. The client is looking to enhance its sales process relating to revenue recognition. The client needs to adjust its billing to be based on contract dates versus billing. They are looking for way to adhere to GAAP rules for selling services that include free months.

Due to rapid growth, the client wants to reduce data entry time and increase efficiency during creation and approval of shopping cart functions in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). For shopping carts that require multiple line items with G/L accounts, having G/L account field on the line item level would save users time and create efficiency.

Users would like to see enhancements to the shopping cart approval screen so that all information is shown.  Currently the detail is collapsed so the process is more time consuming, which ultimately increases the amount of clicks during processing. Screen layout needs to be more “user friendly,” which can improve turnaround time of its approval process.

Solution
RJT Compuquest was consulted to review and redesign processes to increase efficiency and conform to GAAP rules related to revenue recognition.  RJT proposed and implemented a solution based around SAP SRM and sales contract processing. RJT customized a solution to include contract processing, workflow scenarios, and screen modification.

Client Benefits
This streamlined approach increased staff productivity by eliminating time consuming clicks during shopping cart entry and improved turnaround time on the approval process. Additionally, the revenue recognition solution now conforms to GAAP rules and accommodates the various sales deals in place.
